— About me, how to get in touch, etc.
I'm James Keppel. I create guest experiences for places where people gather, socialize, and participate.
I make places and things and help my clients, partners, and friends do the same. I’m based in the San Francisco Bay Area and describe myself as an entrepreneur, a designer, and a seasoned orchestrator of complex projects. The band plays the music. I play the band.
My role in the universe is to shape how people experience places through urban planning, architecture, experiential graphics, placemaking, digital signage, brand design, technology, and almost everything in between. I'm a business and brand strategist, a thinker, designer, and maker, and I know that the value of any idea is virtually zero without impeccable execution.
Some of my signature projects include San Francisco’s Exploratorium, Apple Park in Cupertino, California, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Zoo, Guadalupe River Park & Gardens in San Jose, California, Westfield San Francisco Centre, and the San Jose Arena (Compaq Center/HP Pavilion/SAP Center).
As a former member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) and regular contributor to the SEGD publication Messages, I’ve spoken at the national conference several times, focusing on the process of developing and implementing complex architectural and EGD programs.
In the works: "See You Soon." One man's thoughts about making places that people love. Coming Fall 2017.
