I’m Jim Keppel, the guy behind jkeppel.creative strategies. We make things, and we help our clients make things. I’m an entrepreneur at heart, a designer by training, and a veteran at managing complex projects with teams of all sizes.
Our spot in the universe is to help reshape the ways that people experience places and the web. We cover digital media, brand design, placemaking, environmental graphics, 3D visualization, online and mobile strategies and applications, and almost everything in between.
Some of our signature projects include San Francisco’s Exploratorium, Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Guadalupe River Park & Gardens in San Jose, California, and the San Jose Arena (HP Pavilion), along with St. Andrew’s in Hyde Park, New York, Westfield San Francisco Centre, Mainstreet Las Vegas and Sheridan Ridge Private Reserve.
Recent web projects include the startup of hotshoo.com, along with brand design and web application design and development for Boulder startup measuringwellness.com and drdavidluce.com. We’re also hard at work launching a new site for creative types. Watch this space for more info.
I am a former member of the Board of Directors of the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), having just completed a 3-year term, and recently ended my run as a regular contributor to the SEGD publication Messages, examining the process behind developing and implementing complex architectural and EGD programs. I have spoken at the organization’s annual conference numerous times.
I’ve been fortunate to work with many extremely talented people to make these projects happen, and I’m proud to have served in a leadership role for my teams. My place has been to set the framework, manage the process, and to ask the questions and structure the challenges along the way. Thanks to all that have come along for the ride.

Hello Jim,
I had lost track of your work. It was good working with you back in the ellipsis days. Great website and i am still impressed with your vision. Let me know if there is anything i can do for you. I am licensed in many states, so that may be a benefit also.
Brad
Good to hear from you Brad. We just moved back to the Bay Area, so you’ll be hearing from us for sure!
